Born the son of Ingrid Knight, he inherited Ink Inc. upon his mother's death. At some point before or after inheriting the company, he married Doretta Knight. They had a daughter, Cleo, who inherited her grandmother's scientific skills.
Ignatius, a tycoon at heart, proposed that the sea of Stain'd-by-the-Sea should be drained in order for Ink Inc. to harvest the last of the octopi ink wells. The idea was to save the company, which was Stain'd-by-the-Sea's largest and most important company. It was an expensive plan that was objected strongly by Porter Roeman, who runs the Roe House with the reason that it would adversely affect local marine life. The draining commenced, and with it, the town's stores and restaurants closed down.
When Did You See Her Last?
Ignatius is first seen sitting in the sitting room along with his wife, Doretta, both in a state of unhurried delirium. After a failed conversation with their servants, Zada and Zora, Dr. Flammarion gave the couple their usual doses of laudanum. He left Stain'd-by-the-Sea with his wife and servants after Cleo's release from the Colophon Clinic.
- Both he and his mother, Ingrid, have I.N.K. as their initials: Ignatius Nettle Knight, Ingrid Nummet Knight. The naming trend didn't pass down to Cleo.
