Ink, more commonly known as The Incredibly Deadly Viper, is a snake discovered by Dr. Montgomery Montgomery.[1] According to the video game, he discovered it in Tazmania.
Biography
The Incredibly Deadly Viper spent some time on The Island and probably escaped with Bertrand and Beatrice and eventually found his way to wherever he was discovered (or this is where Bertrand and Beatrice originally arrived with him), allowing Monty to actually "discover" him many years later.
Chronologically, The Incredibly Deadly Viper first appears in The Reptile Room, at least thirteen years[2] after escaping from the island as Dr. Montgomery Montgomery's most recent discovery.
As "black as a coal mine and as thick as a sewer pipe" with bright green eyes, Uncle Monty reveals that the Viper, despite being named "The Incredibly Deadly Viper", is actually one of the least dangerous and most friendly creatures in the animal kingdom. Monty chose the title in order to play a prank on the Herpetological Society, where he plans to unveil the snake in a month's time.
Sunny forms a close bond with the viper. Together they manage to distract the adults while Violet Baudelaire searches the suitcase of Stephano. At the end of the book, the Incredibly Deadly Viper is packed up with the rest of Monty's collection and taken away by Bruce.
At some point after being packed up with the rest of Monty's collection, Ink was released or - given his name and that people thought he was deadly - escaped and found his way to Kit; this event may or may not be the event mentioned in Lemony Snicket: The Unauthorized Autobiography, as the couple who own the Prospero send a postcard to Lemony that mentions their assistance in preventing the Incredibly Deadly Viper from falling into the clutches of Count Olaf.
Ink reappears in The End, along with Kit Snicket on her Vaporetto of Favorite Detritus when the two wash ashore "The Island". Kit reveals that the snake's name is Ink, and this is further confirmed when the Baudelaire orphans read a passage of A Series of Unfortunate Events stating that Ishmael had trained Inky (the viper) to rope sheep.
Near the end of the book, Ink offered them an apple - one that had been made into a hybrid plant by the Baudelaire Parents with horseradish to act as a handy cure for the Medusoid Mycelium should it ever reach the island - to save their lives.
Ink disappears when the island colonists decide to leave without taking any of the apples that the orphans offer them. The author hints that Ink was following them to deliver an apple in the hopes of saving them. It is unknown if the islanders were saved in time, though presumably Ink found his way back to shore at a point after this and it is unknown as to whether he was ever reunited with the Baudelaires.

The Incredibly Deadly Viper did not officially appear in the Activision Video Game based on the motion picture but was seen in the storybook drawings depicting his story and can also be seen in his cage in the Reptile Room. In The Reptile Room End Level Sunny Baudelaire had to reach the ventilation shaft leading into his cage which would then on to the Damocles Dock Level.
