[edit] What is this book about?
This is a more than just an autobiography. It contains info on VFD and the Snicket siblings and also on many characters who were seen before, played minor roles, or were only mentioned. It teaches us all kinds of VFD hiding places, information, and codes. It also contains the coded phrases, "I didn't realize this was a sad occasion", "Are you who I think you are?", "Well young lady, have you been good to your mother?", and "The World Is Quiet Here." It also contains information about the animals, specifically, The Incredibly Deadly Viper and Mamba Du Mal. It also has images of the author when he was a child.
[edit] Headline text
This book also contains the mixed mystery/humor genres of the books and contains important info about earlier books that people may have missed such as a backstory behind Uncle Monty and his assitant Gustav Sebald, a hidden secret about the stacks of paper in Paltryville (These are destroyed soon after the Baudelaires depart. It also shows us how to look at the VFD insignia of an eye.
[edit] Mysteries Part One
It also shows us things that were hidden inside books (real and fake (Hint: Check for copyright dates to distinguish which is which)) such as the cricket song from Charlotte's Web. The Duchess of Winnipeg is revealed to be Snicket's associate. At a masked ball, Snicket was captured.
[edit] Mysteries Part Two
For the last reasons, it contains a lot of pictures at end of the book with Snicket and a black truck in them. Finnally, it contains an introduction by Daniel Handler and a guide to disguising yourself against enemies. It gives us insight of the schism of the organazation.
