"Resilience" is the fifth track on the soundtrack of Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events.

Usage[]

The track begins as Klaus Baudelaire, distraught at the abuse they've received from Count Olaf, attempts to climb through the window to go home. Violet comforts him by reminding him of the time they'd thought they'd been abandoned because their parents' letter from Europe never arrived, but he reminds her that this is different as they are not coming back.

In an effort to make their dismal surroundings feel more like home, Violet and Klaus set up a blanket fort, and use their only remaining belongings from the fire- Klaus's headlamp and silhouette portraits of their mother and father- to project their parents onto the fabric. They crawl inside with Sunny to play.

'Sanctuary' is a word which here means, 'a small, safe place in a troubling world.' Like an oasis in a vast desert, or an island in a stormy sea. The Baudelaires enjoyed their evening in the sanctuary they'd built together.
